The Granite State offers tourists exciting vacation options year-round: great skiing in the winter, fascinating museums and other cultural experiences, fabulous summer fun in the lakes and mountains and stunning foliage vistas in the fall.   Trips in New Hampshire for recreational and business during 2005 totaled 33.4 million (39% in summer; 23% in fall; 19% in winter; and 19% in spring). Direct spending in New Hampshire by visitors in 2005 reached $4.136 billion, up by 1.9% over 2004. Traveler spending in 2005 supported 66,700 direct full-time and part-time jobs. In FY2005, $112.5 million in rooms and meals tax was collected.  The top three origins of overnight international visitors to New Hampshire in FY2001 were from (a) Canada - 294,000, (b) the United Kingdom - 51,200, and (c) Germany - 20,700.

In 2004, there were 328,600 overnight Canadian visitors. The average length of stay for Canadian overnight travelers was 3 nights and the average spending of Canadian travelers was up 46% in 2004 in comparison to 2000.
