PUERTO RICO TRAVEL AND TOURISM MARKETING
  back

Puerto Rico is a commonwealth of the United States and the smallest island of the Greater Antilles. Located between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, it is 110 miles long and 35 miles wide, making it roughly the size of Connecticut. San Juan, the capital city, has a distinctive combination of Colonial Spanish, native and contemporary traditions and architecture that makes it a well-known attractive destination. Spanish and English are the official languages, but Spanish is predominant.
With a year-round tropical climate the average temperatures range from 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit. Four million visitors a year are attracted to the luxurious world-class hotels, resorts, 272 miles of coastline with hundreds of beaches, and the quarter million square feet of meeting space throughout the island. A major amount of tourists arrive on the Cruise ships. The overall economic impact of travel and tourism in 2004 concluded at $4.89 billion.
